Unique Wedding Cakes Inspired by Art!

Whether you’re a fan of Impressionist paintings, abstract works or Art Nouveau, your favorite classic artworks can come alive in your wedding cake design.

The Kiss by Gustav Klimt Wedding Cakes & Cupcakes

Art by Symbolist painter Gustav Klimt is ultra-sensual and colorful, which is why “The Kiss” is one of the most popular classic paintings used for wedding cake design. This painting’s kissing couple glows with shimmery gold and makes for gorgeous inspiration. Wedding couples who love bold color and passionate symbolism are perfect for a Klimt-inspired cake, like these from Maribelle Cakery (top left of Klimt collage) and Two and a Half Femmes (bottom right). Or imagine cupcakes for your wedding with a Klimt-inspired theme. We love the cute Klimt cupcake from Sweetology.
Monet Water Lilies 1916

Consider a Monet wedding cake for your ceremony in the garden, with a French wedding theme or at your destination wedding in France.
Cakes Inspired by the Art of Piet Mondrian

Painter Piet Mondrian created a memorable style all his own, called Neo-Plasticism, most recognized by his blocks of three basic primary colors in grids of black lines. You can clearly see the striking resemblance to Mondrian’s work in the colorful cake slice from pastry chef Caitlin Freeman (top right photo in collage, by Lance Iverson) and the tier wedding cake from Cakes to Remember.

Art Nouveau Wedding Cake from Sweet Cakes by Karen (right)

Louis Comfort Tiffany is perhaps the most famous stained glass artist in American history. Tiffany lamps like the one above from The Art Factory are still wildly popular today, available in many styles and intricate designs. So it’s no surprise that Tiffany and Art Nouveau stained glass-inspired wedding cakes like these from Sweet Cakes by Karen and Maggie Austin Cake are so divine.

  1. Wow !! I really appreciate the designer who prepared the designs of these cakes. The more unique is the one which looks like a lamp.

    1. Yes! What I surprised is how diffcult it is for them to make these cakes and how long each of them takes.
