Choose Wedding Dress for your Body Type
There is no one wedding dress style that looks perfect on everyone because every body type is different, but there are dresses that will complement your shape in every way and make you feel like the most beautiful bride in your wedding day. Shopping for your wedding dress can seem overwhelming so save time and effort by knowing the best gown cut for your body type before going dress shopping is very important. Determine your body shape. Stand in front of a full-length mirror get a good look at yourself.
If a triangle-shaped body type, A-line dresses also work for this body type, but avoid gowns with pleating or gathered fabric from the waist, since they will draw attention to your hips.
If you are apple shaped, look for a dress with a detailed bodice that will create a corset like effect around your midsection. A deep V neckline is best because it will create a long, vertical look.
If you are pear shaped, look for stronger fabrics, like taffeta or Duchesse satin, so it won't stretch and cling to your body, look for a dress with a skirt that flares out gradually from your natural waste line.
If you are plus size, an empire waste and a gradual A-line will complement your shape nicely, avoid tight dresses and spaghetti straps. V-necks, scoop-necks and halters accentuate curves, while semi-full and full skirts are generally flattering on full-figured women.
